Ask about using your Menards Big Card when you order your tires.
ET (Experimental Tire) Class
This class allows racers to build tires within certain limits to measure and watch what works and try different things to decide on future direction of our racing tires. Links to different stud makers are below. If others are known, and would like to be considered for use by the IIRA, email us and we will try them out.
Any stud may be used as long as it does not protrude more then 3/16 inch. Information can be Sent in so that potential studs can be reviewed.
The tires must have less than or equal to 28 studs per lineal foot and the stud protrusion must be less than or equal to 3/16 inch. Studs can only protrude from the tread area and cannot be in the sidewall area of the tires.
The other requirement with this class is that tire recipes be shared so we have a group consensus on what is working and how to duplicate the desired tire.
Marcel Studs
Marcel studs are installed in the tire like a bolt with a nut. To see more on how the installation is done and how it looks or works, go to Don Hupe’s cheater tire page. To see more of the Marcel info, click on one of the links, or go to the Marcel website and see what they have.
Grip Studs
Grip Studs #1500 and #1900 complies with IIRA Experimental Tire Stud Class. Any studs with a prominence no greater then 4 millimeter will comply with the IIRA rules. See the stud selection chart to see them all, there are also studs for you boots and bike. Jason Strassell is the guy to talk to when you order. Don’t forget to mention that you are in the IIRA when you order.
